The Quality & Safety Alliance for In-flight Services (“QSAI”) Technical Committee (“TC”) evaluates the need to update the QSAI Standards & Interpretation Guidelines (“SIGs”). Changes to Standards may be driven by regulatory updates, scientific developments, new industry best practices, on-site observations from QSAI Audits and feedback received from QSAI Participants and Catering Organizations.

The revision of these SIGs falls within the objective of the Technical Committee to set and improve industry standards on a continuous basis and to provide a platform of discussion where changes to food safety management policies, procedures and practices can be discussed and a consensus can be reached on any modifications that meet both QSAI Alliance Members and QSAI Catering Organization’s objectives.

To contribute to these discussions, QSAI Alliance Members and QSAI Catering Organizations and are invited to participate in an online survey where they can provide comments on the proposed modifications to the QSAI Standards.

Based on the submissions received each QSAI Alliance Member and QSAI Catering Organization will receive a Memo summarizing all comments and the QSAI Council recommendations for changes to the QSAI Standards & Interpretation Guidelines. QSAI Alliance Members and Catering Organizations that provided a submission with detailed comments and regulatory, scientific or procedural references will in addition be invited to a forum to further discuss and finalize the recommended changes.

The new version of the QSAI Standards will be issued to all facilities audited under the QSAI Programme and will be effective as of January 1st 2026.
